Voice Notes International Women’s Day – Balance the Scales Event

Our International Women’s Day Breakfast, our first Voice Notes: Illuminating Issues That Matter event for the year, brought together three First Nations voices across generations – Delta Kay, Lua Pellegrini and Emilie (ÌÇÐÄVlog Year 8 student) – to explore this year’s IWD theme of Balance the Scales.

Delta and Lua shared perspectives from First Nations culture about the importance of balance and reciprocity – the idea that strong relationships between people, place and community sit at the centre of a healthy society – and Emilie brought the voice of the next generation to the conversation, sharing her lived experience as a young First Nations woman.
Seeing a Year 8 student step confidently onto a panel alongside respected community voices was a very proud moment for ÌÇÐÄVlog. Moments like this remind us that leadership begins when young people feel confident to share their voice and contribute to important conversations.
Thank you to our speakers for sharing their knowledge so generously with our ÌÇÐÄVlog community.
