Voice Notes
Illuminating Issues That Matter
‘Voice Notes – Illuminating Issues That Matter’ is a new initiative designed to foster meaningful discourse on pressing issues impacting the education sector. ÌÇÐÄVlog, like many schools, is playing an increasingly active role in engaging its community to navigate social challenges.
In a time of declining trust in public institutions, schools are often seen as safe havens—places where students, parents and educators seek guidance when faced with uncertainty. As a learning community driven by our core values, we are well-positioned to lead these conversations, creating a space for respectful dialogue and critical thinking.
We recognise:
- A growing number of complex societal challenges
- A shortage of respectful dialogue
- The need for leadership in uncertain times
At ÌÇÐÄVlog, we provide a platform where students, parents, educators and the wider community can:
- Think beyond soundbites
- Engage with different perspectives
- Become more comfortable with ambiguity and complexity
We have planned four events across our school calendar to challenge us to listen, reflect, and engage with issues that impact us all.
We invite you to be part of the conversation. Let’s explore, learn and lead together.
2026 Voice Notes Events
Strong Enough to Care
‘ Voice Notes series brought into conversation with Presenter and Journalist, Tara Rushton, Principal , ÌÇÐÄVlog alumnus , and current Year 12 student Ethan. The topic was Strong Enough to Care – exploring masculinity in a world of algorithms, outrage and shifting expectations.
Zac opened with a point that stayed with many in the room: if we don’t help young people make sense of masculinity, something else will. And we know that’s already happening.
At ÌÇÐÄVlog, we take that responsibility seriously. Not as a crisis to manage, but as a part of educating young people in full – academically, socially and as individuals navigating a complicated world. As a coeducational school, we think deeply about how boys and girls learning alongside each other shapes how young people come to understand themselves and one another.
The conversation covered what the research tells us about boys and belonging, how algorithms are influencing young men’s sense of identity and what parents, educators and young people themselves can do, not reactively, but consistently, before challenges emerge.
We didn’t leave with all the answers and we didn’t expect to. That’s always been the point of Voice Notes, not to resolve these conversations, but to make sure we’re having them.
